The Scallies

Long Claw swooped down and shouted to Flash, “Get off the Road and hide Quickly, you have two large dogs coming your way” Flash and party Heard the Warning, “quick, get off the road and up the nearest tree” said Flash. “what about Sam” Patch cried. “Don’t worry you two; I will try to hold them off so you can Get away.” The two brothers and Freddy ran and climbed up the trunk of large thorn Tree that was only feet away from Them, H had landed in the top branches of the same tree and was observing all the Commotion going on below, Sam however, backed up To the base of the tree and Waited for the hounds to arrive, unfortunately for Sam he did not have to wait long, both hounds leapt over the hedge and onto the road, both stood snarling at Sam, both ready to pounce on him, Flash, Patch and Freddy froze with fright as they looked down on their friend being confronted by these two ferocious wolf hounds, the two hounds looked at each other, “What do you think Paddy, do you want to take him or shall I”  “Be my guest” said Murphy; “he’s only a little squirt, no match for the likes of me or you.”  “Go on then, try it” Sam replied.  “You might hurt me, but not before I have hurt one or both of  You” The poor little dog was petrified, but he was not going give ground, he knew if  he backed off or ran away his friends would have no chance of escape.  snarling and  barking at Sam the two hounds moved in closer towards him. Sam knew that his best defence was to go on the offensive; he mustered up as much  courage as he could and leapt forward sinking his teeth into the right leg of Murphy,  the hound gave out a howl and spun round trying to shake off Sam, Paddy jumped Onto the back of the spaniel and sank his teeth into the dogs back, Sam yelped out  with a terrible cry, he let go of Murphy and with that, Murphy quickly turned and set about Sam as well, meanwhile, the terrified party looked on in horror. Harry jumped off his branch, flew high into the air and dived down towards the fighting dogs below, his  talons spread out ready to attack the hounds, before Harry knew it, Long Claw had joined  him, and the Hawk looked across at the Owl, “ready to do battle are we, said the  Hawk” “You bet I am” replied the Owl. The two hounds were biting and tearing at Sam not knowing what was coming at  those from above, within seconds the two birds landed on their victims, both of them sinking their long sharp talons into the hounds and pecking at their heads, Murphy  and Paddy did not know what had hit them, they quickly let go of Sam and was spinning around trying to shake the two birds free, both hounds managed to break free of their attackers, running away through the hedge and back the way they came, the blood streaming from their backs and heads, Both Hounds were yelping out loud as they ran away.  the Scallies and the Frog were so happy that  the Owl and the Hawk  had come to rescue Sam, They would never have imagined that these two birds would be brave enough to take on two Large ferocious hounds like Paddy and Murphy.  Flash, Patch and Freddy quickly scampered down the tree and surrounded the little spaniel “Ooh Sam, you look awful! Are you badly hurt” Patch asked Sam,  “I am cut and bruised and my leg hurts quite a bit, but I will be ok.”  “Honestly you  two, you were fantastic said Flash.
