Chapter 1: Creation of heaven and earth

The Bible gives us an account of the creation of heaven and earth. This account is found in the book of Genesis. In fact, the word Genesis is defined as an origin or a beginning. The Bible, I believe, gives us a true and accurate description of the creation of the universe. Many scientists try to give their own theory of the beginning which they describe as just one big accident or the "big bang theory". That is just what it is, a theory. This so called scientific theory can not be proven and in fact flies in the face of what is normally accepted as true science. For something to be a scientific fact and not just a theory, it must meet three very important criteria. First, that which you are trying to prove must be observable. Second, you must be able to do bona fide experiments which prove your theory. Finally, you must be able to repeat the experiment and end up with the same result each time. None of this is, of course, actually done by these scientists and yet their theories are promulgated in text books and taught to students as scientific fact!

The universe is like a very precise watch. If, however, you compare it to a Rolex, it makes the Rolex look like a sun dial. Everything moves so precisely that it makes it possible for there to be life on earth. Let us look for a moment at just our little solar system. We find that the earth, being the third planet, is just exactly the right distance from the sun. Venus, the second planet, is too close to the sun and the temperatures there would be so hot that it would make life impossible. Mars, the fourth planet, is too far from the sun and it is so frigid that life could not exist. Our moon is just the right distance from the earth. If the moon was any closer, the gravitational pull on the ocean tides would cause coastal flooding every day. If the moon was any farther away, the gravitational pull on the tides would be minimal. Without the tides there would be no ocean currents. Without ocean currents, the water would soon stagnate and all marine life would die.

Our atmosphere is also just perfect for the support of life on earth. It is made up of 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, and 1% other inert gases. If the oxygen concentration was too high or the nitrogen concentration was too low, the least little spark would result in a catastrophic fire which would destroy the world. All of these things which we have discussed so far all point in the direction of intelligent design and not just a random chance accident. Anything which is of intelligent design has to have a designer. That designer is God.

Now let us briefly look at the law of entropy. Unlike a theory, entropy is proven scientific fact! Entropy states that everything moves from a state of order to a state of disorder. Nowhere in all of science has there ever been a single case of something moving from a state of disorder into a state of order! Everything decays. This is what is referred to as the second law (not theory) of thermodynamics. There is only one logical conclusion for the truth of the creation of the universe and that is the Biblical account of Genesis.

Let us now look at Genesis 1. Here we find it stated that in the beginning God created the heaven and earth. The phrase "in the beginning" refers to the beginning of the universe, not the beginning of God. God is infinite and He has always existed and He always will exist. I have a "big bang theory" of my own and it has nothing to do with the theory espoused by the majority of scientists. My theory is that God spoke and bang it happened! God simply spoke the word and creation took place instantly.

When God first created the earth, it was nothing like the earth as we know it today. The earth was shapeless and without form. Darkness covered the waters which covered the whole planet. Then the Spirit of God hovered above the waters of the deep. At that time God said let there be light and instantly there was light. God said that the light was good and He then separated light from dark. The light was called day and the dark was called night. This concluded the first day of creation.

God said let there be an expanse to separate the waters. As soon as He spoke the words the waters separated. The expanse, as it was called, was what we know as the sky. This was what happened on the second day of creation. Then God said let the water under the sky be gathered together and let dry ground appear and it was so. The ground was called land and the water was called seas. It was at this time that God saw the need for grass, herbs, and fruit. He spoke the words and they appeared. This was the third day of creation and God saw that it was good. God decided that there should be lights in the sky to separate night from day and to signify seasons and days and years. God determined that the lights would be for lighting the earth. He created the sun to light the day and the moon to light the night. He spoke the word and the sun, moon, and stars came into existence. God saw that they were good and this concluded the fourth day of creation. God said let the water be filled with all sorts of life and let the sky be filled with every kind of bird and instantly, again, it happened as soon as He spoke the words. God told the birds and the marine life to be fruitful and multiply and this was the end of the fifth day of creation. The sixth day of creation will be covered in another chapter.

The scientists which we talked about earlier believe that the universe is billions of years old. They have no choice but to believe that because their models of the origins of the universe and the beginning of life would require that tremendous amount of time i
