In February of 1998 I sat in a hotel room in Frankfurt, Germany alone and scared and pregnant with my fourth child. My husband was in an all day meeting with work. Jet lagged and worn the hours past painfully slow. My mind was racing with all the new experiences that I had been privy to during the last few days. Leaving the airport in tears over leaving my children, the fear of the long overseas travel, visiting schools, house hunting, not to mention the sheer confusion of a new culture and language were beginning to overwhelm me.
Robert and I knew the Lord was calling us to move to Germany. He had answered every checklist we had made with bold ink. We surrendered nervously to the call amongst pleas and strong opposition from family members and friends. But there I sat, alone, scared and isolated from even being able to effectively communicate to the outside world. Finally, in my desperation I turned to my Bible. In tears I cried out to the Lord something to the effect of "show me Lord. Help me. I don’t know if I can do this. I’m so scared." With shaking hands my Bible opened to Isaiah 41 and immediately my eyes fell on verse 10. "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." Whew! Wait! This can’t be. God doesn’t work that way. So I read it again. Yep! I read that right! I remember looking around the room quite frankly expecting to see Jesus Christ Himself sitting right next to me smiling at me. Tears began to flow and a peace came over me. In a matter of seconds peace had replaced fear. Hope had replaced desperation and joy had replaced angst. Dear friend is God calling you to a change? Is He asking you to step out of what you know, what you thought, what you want? Is He telling you to trust Him with your life and circumstances even though the opposition is great? Do not fear!

About the Book
For years society has made mothers who choose to stay home with their children feel inferior. Those of us who have gone on to college are forever feeling the need to "apologize" for "wasting" our degrees. We are made to be as lessor members, if not failures of society. The realization is that God calls us where we need to be. Our call may be for a season or for a lifetime but that call whether in the workforce or at home, is the most important call on our lives. As mothers we can rest assured that our job is of the utmost value. Kim Goodnight shares her journey through her own fight with feelings of inadequacies, misgivings and emotional pain and offers Biblical examples and principles to help you not only discern God’s call on your own life but to rejoice and revel in it.
About the Author
Kim Goodnight holds a degree from The University of South Alabama in Marketing and a Nursing degree from The University of Mobile. She and her husband, Robert have four active daughters ranging in age from 8 to 17. Kim is active in her church, teaching children’s choir, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and a senior exercise class. She and her family currently live in Paducah, Kentucky and attend Lone Oak First Baptist Church.
