Lying here I get the strangest feeling that the ship is gradually slowing down. Why is this? What's going on? Through the entire trip, my body would gradually rock back and forth almost the same as it did when I used to sit in Mama's chair and rock my baby sister to sleep in the kitchen. The movement of my body swaying in bed was so comforting. It would always remind me of home. Oh, God, how I long for Mama and Papa and my brothers and sisters. I fear I will never see any of them again but I promised myself that I would not be melancholy. Still the ship was moving slower and slower. Instantly, there was a loud bell ringing outside on the Trunigria. Over the speaker, I heard the Captain's voice saying, "All hands on deck, all hands on deck. All passengers, please report to the upper deck of the ship immediately". Timidly, I reached for my blouse and skirt. Why would the Captain be calling everyone to come out on the ship? As I was walking towards the stairs, the Trunigria came to a complete halt. My heart and adrenaline was racing inside of me. There must be serious problems with the ship. As I approached the top deck of the Trunigria, I noticed all of the men on one side to my right and all of the women and children on my left side. Instantly, I went to the left side. It felt as if time was passing so slowly but in a few minutes time, I was in line. I looked to my left and saw Captain Holmes and his first mate. Then my eyes gradually crossed over to the Captain's right and my eyes went towards the floor. I heard the footsteps again. Squeezing through the other passengers and adjusting my eyes I saw the black shiny leather boots. Oh, no. They were coming to get me. The German soldiers were on the ship looking for me. One was walking down the line with Captain Holmes looking at the all of the passengers' papers and interrogating everyone. My body was shivering all over with fear. Step by step, minute by minute they were getting closer and closer. First to the right ant then to the left. If they get me, they will kill me for sure. The Germans msut not capture me. My life would be over and my journey never fulfilled. I must do something. Quivering all over, I said to myself, "Think, think, think of something".
