About the Book

My Horses, My Healers begins as a childhood drama of sexual abuse in the life of the author, and through the healing power of interacting with horses, Shelley Rosenberg transforms her experience into a protocol for self-healing through the willingness to be with the horse. For riders of all ages, for anyone who has experienced alienation from their own human kind in their days, for anyone who loves horses—this book resonates with the good that can come from watching horses and humans interact and teach one another about the language of direct communication, feelings, and healing through truthful speaking of our emotions.

About the Author

Shelley Rosenberg is an Advanced Instructor at the Epona Center at Apache Springs Ranch in Arizona. Shelley offers individual Equine Experiential Learning sessions to U.S. and international clients, which includes Passive and Active Round Penning, Reflective Riding, and Journey Rides. In these sessions she uses both her human and equine instructor’s expertise in developing an open communication and strength of relationship between participant and horse that can engender the discovery of life skills to aid the human in all relationships. Shelley is the Herd Manager at Epona, carefully working to maintain the well-being of the Epona therapy horses. As a United States Dressage Federation (USDF) “L” judge, and certified USDF instructor, she also continues to provide lessons and training for riders starting at the very beginnings of their experiences with horses, up to the level of Grand Prix. Riding since the age of 12, she has over 30 years of experience training horses, teaching riders in western, jumping, dressage, and hunter, and training driving horses. Her experience with horse breeds spans from Arabians to Haflingers to Warmbloods to rescued Mustangs and horses recovering from abuse that require rehabilitation. In her long career she has successfully competed for the long-list on the U.S. Olympic equestrian team, co-led with Barbara Rector to create and implement the Adolescent Care and therapeutic riding program at Sierra Tucson in the 1980s, conducted dressage clinics, became President of the Tucson Dressage Club, and for 18 years ran her own professional Dressage Center in Oro Valley. Shelley continues to actively judge, train, and compete in the art of dressage riding in Arizona.
