Ordinary Day Breakfast is over The kitchen affected Beds are unmade The house looks neglected The children now off To school for the day And the man of the house Is well on his way The laundry is piled up And objects are strolled From kitchen to bedrooms The chores are untold It’s such a big mess No end seems in view For the things that I see I am needing to do But I pause before starting Just wanting to say ‘Thank You Lord,’ once again For an ordinary day One Spirit Like a butterfly breaking through the last fragile strand of its silky encasement Someday I too will be free Free to experience another world, another time, another nature No longer a prisoner of my weak and weathered shroud and the thread of human flesh that began to spin itself around my spirit at the time of my conception For my flesh will return to dust I will be free of it and I will rejoice Yet my spirit will live on for all eternity My decision making time… determined by God My decision and destination… determined by me For it is the Spirit of God and Him alone that is the giver and sustainer of life It was my decision, to place my faith In the finished work of God’s Only Begotten Son And be joined unto Him and receive the new birth and new life that He gives Someday my spirit will be free

Sandra Custard is a native of Her poem, “Expressions,” perhaps best sums up her love of writing. I write to find a way to express Who I am inside To identify what I think and feel And reveal the things I hide She states, “I have found that writing helps me to express thoughts and emotions that I am sometimes unable to verbalize. It also affords me the advantage of looking inward and questioning my own thoughts and motives before expressing them. I believe this could be beneficial for us all. I wonder how many of our words and actions would be altered if we first penned them and could see the thoughts and intents of our hearts, on paper, staring back at us. I am convinced that many of life’s mistakes could be avoided if only we would learn to think before we act or speak. Therefore was born the title of this book taken from the Book of Philippians, Think on These Things.”
