In my dreams
you laugh, you talk, you dance
just like you used to
you look so happy
that’s why it breaks my heart to see you like this
confined to a wheelchair
barely able to stand
Silent
I know you want to speak to me
and I want to listen to everything I know you want to say but can’t
I have so many questions now
There’s so much I wanted to know--but was afraid to ask
I’ve grown up so much in these past few months since you were stricken
I’ve come to realize that so much of what you told me--and I
refused to believe--is true
I wish we could talk about these things...not as mother and
daughter… but as friends
I love you so much
the light in your eyes when you see me tells me that you love me
just as much
That should be enough--knowing that you love me

About the Book
Doshie Mae is a collection of poems written over a span of several years, although most of them were written between 2002 and 2006. This is a period during which the author experienced more challenges and personal growth than at any other time in her life. The poems are deeply emotional and express sentiments that we’ve all felt at some point in our lives: love, hurt, abandonment, gratitude, uncertainty, passion. Doshie Mae is a panoramic view into the depths of the fiery human spirit.
About the Author
C.S. Morrow is the product of a large (14 siblings), blended, very Southern family. Morrow has been writing since the age of 6, with her first poem being a love letter to a first grade classmate, with whom she still keeps in contact. Her love of poetry and writing was shared and nurtured by her mother, Doshie Mae, who also writes. (So how did she end up with a degree in Zoology?) "Doshie Mae" is Morrow's first published work.
