About the Book

Gwen Matthews walked away from her three year relationship with Jim. She

and her widowed mother move to an Island off  the coast of Maine. Once there she began her new job at the Island Clinic.  She learns the harshness of the sea takes it’s toll. David a tall and handsome  man with a complicated back ground, comes into her life. Circumstances seem to want to keep them Apart, but her mother is determined they will get together. A terrible tragedy comes to the Island Will they survive or will they have to move back to the mainland.

About the Author

Bettye Taylor Clement lives in Maine with her favorite companion her  little dog “Brutus.”. She was born in Canada and raised in Down East Maine. She worked in various jobs, the last being in the medical field. She and her late husband Merrill raised 3 sons.  Bettye has enjoyed many hobbies including music, painting, camping and other outdoor activities. “Second Chances” is her first novel and she looks forward to writing many more
