The Tasks of Gnomes
So Max became a Senior Gnome. He must look after a house and a garden, as well as the people and animals that live in this house. Max is inordinately proud, for the other gnomes who live in the garden have to follow his directions. Every gnome has his own special task. This one must care for the plants, so that they grow well and flourish. That one has to see to it that the bushes and flowers get enough sun and water. Another is responsible for the trees. Still another one has to look after the beetles and insects, to make sure that these are provided for. And yet another gnome makes sure that no unwanted invaders creep into the house or the garden. In summertime the gnomes dwell under the bushes and trees. In the winter, when it is just too cold, they prefer to seek out a warm corner in the cellar. Of course they also visit the humans in the house, and when they desire, they like to settle into a comfortable armchair.
And then there are also the elves. These are teeny-tiny tender little creatures with fine transparent little wings. Elves are very shy; they don’t like noises at all, and sometimes even the gnomes are too loud for them. But they do like beautiful music. They make their homes in the magnolia tree that stands next to the house.

About the Book
Our world is not only that which we can see, feel and touch — there is much more to it. There are beings around us whom most adults are unable to see or communicate with. Nevertheless they are there. The author tells us about such beings angels whose task it is to be on our side, guide us through life, protect and teach us. Max, the Gnome, who dwells in a garden together with his colleagues, also has an angel who is in charge of him. This sublime being takes Max on journeys into that world which we cannot see. Thus, Max is learning a lot about the meaning of life and the deep truths about the earth and all creation.
About the Author
The author, Rosemarie Silvia Voelkle has occupied herself for decades with questions of the “other world”. The thought of every living being on earth having a soul is a reality for her.

The stories of the journeys that Max, the Gnome, was able to do with his angel were first published in German. Gaining knowledge and insight about the true meaning of life can help to be able better cope with problems we all are from time to time confronted with in our lives. Max’s experiences might be inspirational for all those who take the time to travel with him on his journeys and — who knows — maybe they are encouraged to build up the contact with their own angel.
