No One Cries in Heaven
For Those Who Have a
Loved One with Alzheimer’s
“Where are you?” is a question
That I ask myself each day.
It’s like you’re gone, yet here you are.
You’ve left, but still you stay.
I see a face I’ve known for years
Just staring back at me.
I long for recognition
Though I know it cannot be.
Each day I find I’m hoping
Against what I realize.
It hurts so much that I’ve become
A stranger in your eyes.
I want to have you back.
It’s all I’m ever dreaming of.
To hear you call my name
And then embrace me with your love.
But, for now, this is not possible
While here we live our lives,
And the cross must first be carried
Before we reach paradise.
For there’s a place that’s waiting
To receive each weary soul
Who accepts what’s often hard
Because the suffering’s worth the goal.
That’s where I know I’ll find you
For our bond will still remain.
You’ll smile at me once more
And then I’ll hear you call my name.
I’ll put my arms around you,
All my dreams now realized.
I’ll see your loving face,
The recognition in your eyes.
My tears shall finally cease.
There’ll be just joy instead of pain.
You see, no one cries in heaven.
There our love, alone, remains.
My Wish to Fish
I find myself smiling
As I sit beside this lake.
I’m thinking of the time
When I made a big mistake.
You see, I yearned for something.
It was a simple wish.
Like my husband and my daughter,
I thought that I could fish.

To fish in these fine waters
Is something that makes sense.
So we set out one clear morning
On a boat owned by a friend.
The speedy trip was thrilling.
My excitement knew no end!
Eventually, we came upon
What was the perfect spot.
Before we started fishing, though,
The boat would have to stop.
Till then, I had no problem.
Everything was going fine.
I settled back, content to watch
The sunrise and the lines.
As time went on, however,
I soon found to my dismay
That my stomach acted funny
Each time the boat would sway.
The others were not bothered
By the swaying of the boat,
But my condition only worsened
From my stomach to my throat.
Before too long, I found I had
An urgent need for praying.
“Dear Lord,” I begged, “just take me now
Or keep this boat from swaying!”
At last I could contain no more.
My stomach reached its end.
So till the fishing trip was done,
A bucket was my friend.
At least I lived to tell the tale,
Though much is still a blur.
The trip was not what I had hoped
Yet one thing is for sure:
Concerning fish, I’ll never be

About the Book
Heart, Soul, & Inspiration is a book that I hope will find a way to touch everyone who reads it.
The collection of spiritual as well as personal poetry covers a wide variety of subjects that I believe most people can relate to in their lives as well as understand in their hearts.
We are living in a world today where people are connecting less and less with each other. I believe that God inspired me to write these poems as a way to reach out to others and stir their hearts by reminding them that they are not alone in any situation in their lives.
I am grateful that I was inspired to write about so many topics ranging from serious to humorous and general to specific.
I have been offering my poems individually to people over the years, so I am very happy to be able to finally have them all together in one book (as many people have asked me to do).
I hope you enjoy the outcome. If my poems cause you to think about God, make you smile, or affect you in any way, then this book will have succeeded in what I believe it was intended to do.

About the Author
Kathy has been writing poetry since she was very young. During her teenage years she felt God inspiring her in her writing.
Feeling the call to dedicate her life entirely to Him, she entered a cloistered Carmelite monastery in Grand Rapids, Michigan after she graduated from High School. After a while she realized that this was not what God intended for her so she left the monastery, returned home, and got a job. A few years later she met and fell in love with her husband, Michael. Four years after they were married she had their daughter, Teri (Theresa).
During all this time, Kathy was not writing poetry (although God still remained an important part of her life). Twenty years went by without her writing a single poem. Then, during a chance meeting with the editor of her church paper, she brought up the subject of her poetry. It was right before Easter so she submitted a poem she had written many years earlier on the crucifixion of our Lord ("The Sentry’s Message"). He printed it in the church paper, so she brought him another one. After that one was printed, Kathy started wondering if she could write again. It had happened so naturally in the past. All at once the lines and ideas started coming to her like they had before and she started writing poetry again.
Many people who have enjoyed her poetry through the years have been asking her to put them all in a book. Despite her uncertainty, she has finally decided to do just that. The result is a book with a wide variety of spiritual and personal poetry. Whatever happens, Kathy feels that this is what God has wanted her to do all along.
