He glared hard as she strolled into the room where he was handcuffed to the table and an officer stood near the door. She sat down and faced him. “Okay, let’s talk. Now, if you tell me what I want to know you could get away with five to ten for participating.” “I didn’t do anything,” he snarled at her. “I am not talking until my attorney gets here.” “Fine with me,” Charlie said, leaning back in the chair. “The DA will be chatting with your attorney also. I don’t think he will be willing to make any deals.” “Why are you doing this?” “I have a bereaving family that lost a loved one because she overheard something she shouldn’t have.” “What are you talking about?” Charlie took a deep breath. “You said you weren’t talking until your attorney gets here.” “Who did I kill?” “If you don’t know, then you are more pathetic then I thought.” “I didn’t kill her. I was just told to dump the body.” Charlie smiled. “You are so predictable,” she told him. “I figured that much. I didn’t think you were smart enough to actually commit murder, but, unless I get some names you’re going down for it.” Ivan squirmed in his chair and looked around the room. “I don’t know who killed her. It wasn’t my idea.” “Ivan, what do you have on the dean at your medical school that he’s keeping you there?” “What’s that got to do with anything?” “He killed Elaine, didn’t he? And you found out. You told him you would squeal unless he changed your dismissal from the school and allowed you to stay, right?” Ivan pressed his lips together and looked away from her. Damn she hated it when she was right. Too bad Michael wasn’t here to witness this. The dean killed Elaine and Ivan was blackmailing him into staying in school despite his dismal record.
