Polly was born in Drew County, AR. Lived in Seven Devil’s Bottoms, Cominto and surrounding area. The daughter of a country Baptist preacher. A good girl that crossed a dangerous line. One who tried to hold onto both worlds and nearly died. Her near death experience and the drawn up invalid she became left her angry with the GOD she had grown up loving. How did this loving little church girl get caught up in a world of witchcraft as a woman, fighting demons, turning from her Lord?? How did she make it back?? Ride the back roads of Southeast Arkansas with Polly; visit local cemeteries and witches of Louisiana. Journey with her as she speeds down dirt roads, battles the unknown, falls in love and crawls out of a wheelchair fighting for all that she is. Let Polly’s story open your eyes. And if you are where she once was, not understanding what the end result would be when getting involved in this life style, may you find the answers to getting out. Polly’s story also takes a moment to reach out to abused women, then to victims of stroke and their loved ones and to anyone that has ever been angry, REAL ANGRY, with GOD.

About the Author

Pauline Brady was born Annie Pauline Hoover on October 14, 1935 to the Rev. Paul R. Hoover and Mrs. Annie Lou Peacock-Hoover in Drew County, Arkansas. She lived in Seven Devil’s Bottoms, Cominto and the surrounding area. Pauline, or ’Polly’ as she known to those close to her, was raised in a God fearing, loving, Christian home, the eldest of three children. Her younger siblings are her sister, Gay Nelle Hoover, Rabb-Griffith and brother, Larry Richard Hoover. Pauline married George Allen Daugherty while still a teenager. They had seven children, Paul LaRon, Linda Louise, Anthony Allen, Jeffery ’Jeff’ Olan, Howard ’Randy’ Randolf, Betty Gail and William ’Bill’ Dale. There were both good and hard times during this marriage. After 17 years of being together, Allen died at the age of 37 from a massive heart attack leaving Pauline with seven children to feed and raise alone. She worked and went back to school, doing what she could to be a successful provider. Just over a year after Allen died, she met Wiley ‘Tom’ Thomas Brady in church. He was the father of one daughter, Sonia Dianne.  Little did he know his child raising days were far from over as he fell in love with and married Pauline becoming a father of seven more little ones from pre-school to teenagers. They now have over 30 grand-children, over 25 great-grand-children and the number is still growing. Pauline has been happily married to Tom since 1970. During this time they have shared many adventures. He was a carpenter and a Baptist preacher. Her primary career was that of a journalist/writer and editor. Together they have moved around in the south, watched their children grow, buried their parents, even a child and grand-children. Pauline has come a long way from the woman you will read about through these pages. She has put the demons behind her and God shines before her as well as through her. Pauline and her husband, Tom, recently left their position as caretakers of Wolf Creek Baptist Camp in Dermott, AR. They now live in the hills of North East Georgia, where she has found a calmness and strength in the stories that now flow through her. A peace she says can only be found with God. “for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content” (Philippians 4:11)
