About the Book
The original idea of the Plan Book started as a diary of experiences and notations. Rebecca had her horse, Hylyn Buddy, diagnosed with a digital flexor tendon injury in the year that the horse was ready to compete at the FEI levels. Only after a prior check ligament injury resulting from a trailer incident in the season of 2000. From the original injury in 2000 she knew what she was in for…again. She had to put all he dreams and goals on hold again, and realized their future was going to be limited simply because Buddy was not getting younger. She respected the fact that most FEI dressage horses need to be confirmed in the levels by a certain age. He lost the ability to “lift” his shoulders as a result of the last injury, challenging the movement and rising reinjury of the horse was not an option. As the days started to pass, she wrote down more organized ideas and started researching the factors involved in these types of injuries. This became her therapy and she focused on writing the research down and then focused her research in the form of a manual for other horseman to utilize if they found themselves faced with this issue. The failed stories she heard also motivated her, because “failure was not and option”, One of her favorite quotes. “There must be a way to understand this issue and be successful at a level of soundness for the horse.
