About the Book
A Life Chronicled in Poetry is a collection of poems, verses, song lyrics, journal entries and some philosophical ideologies compiled by the Author. There are also three short stories which help illustrate some of the Authors’ own anxieties and issues as well as those possibly suffered by fellow combat veterans and other victims of life changing traumatic experiences. Through-out, the style of writing remains the same for the most part. There are the typical rhyming verses which attempt to set a rhythm for the story or event. Of course some are very simple and leave no doubt as to the meaning and or lesson. Others are fantastical and hopefully open the mind to other dimensions and possibilities. The reader may find that he or she is over-whelmed with a multitude of feelings as they are caught up in this poetic journey. Some of the writings may appear to be bold and morally or ethically challenging. It wound be unfair to not share the many varied dilemmas faced by the Author as they applied to ‘his-story’. The Author has no under lying goal or agenda with these published works. All that is between the pages is for the spiritual edification, life guidance and simple enjoyment of the reader.
At the time of its publishing this book found a new purpose. The Authors' daughter, Jennifer Tennille Prater was killed in a terrible motor-cycle accident along with the driver. She was to turn 24 years years of age on May 21, 2007. This book is now dedicated to her and her memory.
About the Author
At the suggestion of writing an autobiography or publishing some of your work, your first thoughts are: Is my story worth telling? Will it be interesting enough for others to want to read? Will people enjoy it and will they relate to it? The truth is; no mater what the story or the person of subject, the real key is this - The story must be well written. It must touch the reader and draw them in. Draw them into the story, and into the life of the writer. If this is accomplished, then the reader will not only enjoy it, they and will pass it on for others to read and enjoy.
Secondly - where does one start? As you begin, you will find that the Author has chosen to start with Family. He also decided to publish his story during a time in his life when he was filled with pain and mental anguish.
This (book) story is about the many frustrations, emotions, physical and mental traumas suffered. The Author will attempt to show who he was, who he is now, and who he hopes to become. You will also be introduced to his wife and children and other family members as well as special friends from the past.
