A voice sounded from across the room."Will it help if I play for ye, lad?"
Into the wee hours of the night, the sound of a tiny bagpipe could be heard. The people thought it was the wind. Cheeto was lulled off to sleep, and Three Legs moved closer and closer to Gregory's cage to listen to the pure sweet bagpipe music. For the first time in her life, she softened and felt kindly toward another being. Such an unselfish thing to do, and he was doing it for a scaredy-cat. She did not know it, but she was feeling a bond of friendship forming with Gregory the guinea pig.
When Gregory finally grew tired, he quietly put away his bagpipe then whispered into the darkness. "Are ye sleeping, lass? I'm afraid I overdid it wi' the music. Me chest hurts a wee bit."
Three Legs answered right away. "Oh, Gregory, what can I do to help?"
"Just talk to me, girl, and take me mind off the pain."
"What should I talk about, Gregory?"
"Tell me y'er life story."
"I've never told anyone about my life before, but I will tell you, my friend."

About the Book
Napoleon the poodle plays host to a menagerie
of animals who have been invited to "ride out" the hurricane at his
house. While his man is busy taking care of the people guests,
the poodle is organizing the animals. They follow the advice of
"The Old One," an ancient Siamese cat who sits under the garden shed
and watches. She has told them to "stick together and take care
of each other." These friends unite and survive a very scary
ordeal, and they have all sorts of adventures during the long night.
