A DAY AT THE CHURCH
Bare dirty feet, we pat to the beat, to the tune of washboards and tin tubs
Sitting on hard yet smooth wood pews
While you looking like everyone else, and they are looking like you
Our clothes not fancy, mostly dark, to hide the dust from
The sandy dusty road we just walked on.
Behind the mule- driven wagon, while older ones sat inside to ride
Not to get to tired to enter the place of worship, with dignity and pride.
Returning home, after a full day of therapy for the mind
Feeling great, feeling okay, feeling just fine
Feeling strong with inner strength, knowing full well this feeling
No one could take
Wanting to be joyful, ready to eat, wanting to play for the rest of the day
Little girls dresses being twisted around their knees
Little boys pants legs roll the same you see.
While the older folks
encouraged us to play games that would help us keep our identity
Even through we had nothing but bare dirty feet, and homemade clothes to keep
At the end of the day, not knowing life could be any better
Rested our head on corn shuck pillows
Three brothers, three sisters to a room, no pictures on the walls
Nothing there stood tall
Before we close our eyes having a place to retire
Made us thank God for we felt he loved us so
And always kept us in mind

I gave my life to Christ at eight years old.While reading this book you will see my pass and my present time with Christ through my window view. I hope it encourage you to keep looking up. The eyes of God is in every place.

I am an evangelist, a nurse and a southerner.I came to christ at a early age. He has been my director most of my life.Some times it help me to look back over all the hills and mountains from where he brought me. Reading this poetry I am sure you will see this.May God bless you.
