About the Book

"Marry Me and I Will Take You All Over the World" is best summarized by its sub-title: Quotes and Tidbits from a Life of Love.  Many families will recognize their own shenanigans from this book.  Since it is written for anyone who can read, I have omitted lots of material that might be considered offensive.  Here’s one I probably should have retained: The year is 1984; an American colleague is visiting us in Paris to be honored for technical contributions to the Society of Petroleum Engineers.  He thanks everybody: “merci beaucoup” (and they say Americans do not speak foreign languages!).  He really should have stopped there, though.  Instead, he continues in his best French: “I would like to sleep with all of you,” (je voudrai .....), when he meant to say “I love you all,” (je vous aime.)  You'd think the French would be upset, but in fact they whooped and hollered … at least my buddy "attempted" their language, and did not just assume that they all speak English.  They get a bad rap, the French, for brusqueness ... and rightly so (just kidding, France.)  But actually they can be really nice; and Paris is a great cultural and architectural city (oh la la!).  So ... that’s one of the many I excluded; wait until you get to the ones that made the book.  As for the ones that I omitted, well they should fit nicely in my next book: "Wait, Wait, There's More ... The Movie Version."
