About the Book

The Gluten Free Pantry is a cook book focussing on creating a pantry of whole grain, gluten free foods that are appealing for all members of a household.  Money and time factors are addressed to facilitate the gluten free diet as an easier way of life for the individual and their family as families struggle to accomodate the celiac in their home or the celiac who is visiting.  Also interwoven into this book is a deep consciousness of the inter-connection between our food choices and the rest of the Earth.

About the Author

Vanessa Burgess grew up in a small town in northern Manitoba, Canada.  She was diagnosed with celiacs while attending the University of Saskatchewan after her first daughter was born.  Before graduating with her Bachelor of Arts, Vanessa worked as a research assistant and teacher assistant in the Department of Native Studies at the University of Saskatchewan.  She was published as a co-author with Robert Anderson in work involving international economic development for Indigenous Peoples.  The Gluten Free Pantry resulted after struggling to find better gluten free food that was cost and time effective.  Vanessa now lives on an island in Western Washinton with her husband Jonathan and four children, Maggie, Shea, Alex and Alvin.
