About the Book

A collection of poetry containing works written by William (Bill) Uthe, his son Paul and his grand daughter Katie Higgs.  Positive Poetry conveys positive messages based on life's experiences and relationships, capturing the beauty of life and the joys of living, frequently incorporating a spiritual approach and exploring the diverse challenges present in our sometimes uncertain society.  This collection covers a wide range of themes and reflects the perspectives of the authors in matters of identity, belief's, and love in various forms, and is designed to enlighten, inspire, and provoke thought for the reader. Spititual themes reflect the author's spiritual beliefs which have evolved throughout his lifetime.  Theme's on Friendships represent personal lifetime experiences gathered from the several hundred friendships and aquaintances which have been nurtured through the years.  Family themes record the interests and relationships of the authors' family.  Poems reliving some Holiday experiences are noted.  Behavioral themes relate various patterns of behavior experienced and observed by the authors. Poems of Dance attempt to capture the authors enjoyment of all types of dancing.  Poems of Romance recall numerous romantic adventures of the author.  Some favorite activities are refferred to in Activities.  Memoriams is a tribute to those departed loved ones. Poems of enouragment to find solutions in solving problems are the theme of Motivational poems.  Some happy recolections are noted in Memories. Commercial poems written by the author have been used in newspaper ads. Random subjects are items of interest to the authors.  "Several reflections explore processes that may be part of an attempt to find, keep or reconcile  the loss of a bond with another person."                                                                                         


About the Author

William Uthe received his basic education in Schenectady New York.  He has worked as an apprentice machinist for General Electric, served in the Air force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean police action.  Obtained an associate degree in Business Administration and Accounting, worked as an Insurance field auditor, assistant vice president of purchasing, plant and cost accountant, corporate comptroller, and assistant corporate treasurer.  He had owned his own accounting and tax business and has been affiliated with H & R Block for 37 years. He is divorced and has two children and five grandchildren. He is an active member of one of the largest singles support groups in the U S and USA Dance.  He began dabbling in poetry while in high school and recently decided to pursue his interest in poetry. He has included some of his poetry written years ago. He has been twice nominated for poet of the year by the International Society of Poets, has recieved multiple Editors choice Awards from the international Library of Poetry and has been invited to be included in the International Who's Who of Poetry.  

Paul Uthe was born in Schenectady, received his basic educutation in Schenectady and Ballston Spa. Obtained his associate degree at Hudson Valley community College in Troy N Y.  He has been nominated for poet of the year by ISP, has been appointed a 2007 Poetry Ambassador, has received an Editors Choice Award, been honored as a poet of merit and awarded an editors choice commerative medallion.    

Nine Year old Katie Higgs is in the fourth grade in Mechanicville New York, is a member of the girl scouts, her schools junior cheer leader team and is enrolled in a dance school.   Her first attempt at poetry, "Playful Jenny" is about her baby sister.
