Paul grew up in a large family in a city surrounded by many temptations. He knew the difference between right and wrong, but made decisions on showing leadership and being accepted by his friends.
One fateful day when the choice was was not his to make, a stranger in a speeding car sent him into the air and on a journey to a new way of life. At the age of fifteen, he was about to be faced with many challenges that would cause him concern. How he got through them allows us the chance to see determination beyond all belief.
As you read this story, I hope that you will never say, "This can't happen to me!" You never know what is around that corner of time. Your destiny may be worse than Paul's ordeal. I can only hope you will look differently on those that don’t seem to fit the “normal” mode and be grateful for all your blessings.
About the Author
Susan C. Dacey is a wife, mother, nurse and teacher, but emerging as a poet and writer. Her life experiences have influenced her desire to create works that would inspire and inform those readers seeking unknown journeys. Meeting diversity in her life from childhood through adulthood has given her an insight into the many emotions that come from not being in the mainstream.
Her husband demonstrated the inner strength and beliefs to overcome adversity and lead as normal a life as possible. He didn’t allow the stereotypical comments to stop him from displaying courage beyond our comprehension. She was part of this journey through thirty-three years of marriage and became a partner who supported his efforts in rising above life’s challenges.
Susan won awards in school for her excellence in English composition carrying this throughout her medical career. She has been responsible for technical communications and, most recently, teaching others to improve their language and writing skills.
She has two adult children, Aaron and Sandra. She also has three grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Dylan, and Tiana. Since her husband’s passing, her family has been an integral part of her life giving her the courage and determination to pursue her writing.
