The Ladder My feet firmly on the ground I look at my competition Towering before me it stands. Without hesitation I begin, Moving one rung at a time- Finding no oppression I continue with my ascent. Now reaching a point of rest I survey the ways of my means. How I did not notice all the ones below? What caused their fall? Such an easy climb I construed. Forgetting the past I reach for the next ring but not finding it. What is this, I say? I try till my balance gives way. Down, down I go Again seeing the ones below. We see you made it To the point no one could reach. Best make peace with what you have, Was all they had to speak. With impatience I did reply No way, no way will I. Mindlessly I rushed to apprehend That goal which eluded my touch. Adversely was my attempt For the ground again I am bound.

CK has been a writer and oratist from a very early age. He has appeared on the PBS show Artistic Reflection in the Houston area. His passion is to be an encourager and do'er for what is helpful and right. CK is always seeking to improve the life of others. He also paints as a release to his writings (note the cover page). Now living in Houston, CK enjoys the beauty of been outdoors and the peace that it brings. Born in the small Texas town of Newgulf, He has not forgotten his country roots or history.
