The Adventures of Little Blackie and Friends

Mom, Carrie and Katie had two cats.  Their names were Climbie and Me Too.  Climbie and Me Too lived in the garage.  They could go out the window to a fenced yard that other cats or wild animals could not get into.  The girl’s cats were safe.  Cars could not hit them because they could not get out of the fenced yard to the street.

         One day when Mom came out to feed Climbie and Me Too, a little black cat was sitting on the fence looking into the garage window.  He could see Climbie and Me Too in the garage.  He had torn ears and he was very thin and hungry.  It looked like he might have a cold.  His eyes were goopy and he had a runny nose.

         Mom, Carrie and Katie saw the little black cat and they felt sad for him.  He was a feral cat.  Feral cats are wild and have no one to take care of them.  They wanted to help him.  Mom and the girls started to leave a dish of food and water in the yard for him.

         At first, the little black cat was too afraid to eat when Mom or the girls were in the yard.  But when they went inside, the he would eat all the food in the dish.  As the days went by, he got used to Mom and the girls.  He liked the food they left for him. 

         Mom, Carrie and Katie started to call him ‘Little Blackie’ because he was little and black.  When Mom and the girls would call, “Little Blackie! Chow, chow, chow!” he would come to eat the food they put out for him. 

         It took many days but soon Little Blackie started to grow.  His coat started to look smooth and shiny.  His eyes cleared up and he didn’t have a runny nose anymore.  Mom and the girls liked Little Blackie and he liked them!

         One day, Little Blackie let Mom pet him!  Now Little Blackie has a home.  Mom, Carrie and Katie will always take care of him.  Mom and the girls are very happy!  Little Blackie is very happy too!
