(The Quilted Fabric of My Life)
Take a piece of grand daddy Horace’s favorite jeans
When you stitch this in you’ll know what hard work really means
Add a little square of grandma Ree’s Sunday dress
Now you’re starting a quilt that you know God’s gone bless
Throw in a big ol’ piece of aunt Nora’s winter coat
You’ll start to feel so much love it makes your heart wanna float
Get uncle Joe’s work pants to help bring these colors to life
Now the love is getting so thick you couldn’t cut it with a knife
Bring aunt Allie’s tablecloth to make it feel just right
I’m quilting me enough love to keep me warm the coldest winter night
Take uncle Harvey’s hunting coat and I can add that to the mix
We never had a single problem that the man couldn’t fix

About the Book
From The Middle Of The Rainbow is a reflective observation of the evolution of my life from former gang member,drug and criminal lifestyle addict to father,motivational speaker,author,entreprenuer and most of all survivor. This book is testement to my profound belief that anyone can change for the better and control their own destiny if they are willing to put in the hard work and discpline that are essential for self improvement.
About the Author
Christopher M. Garris is a native of Newsoms,Virginia. He credits his grandmother Alma Marie Santiful Garris for providing guidance and encouragement in his formative years. As a teenager, he relocated to New York where he resided in the Bronx. He became invoved in gang and criminal activity at an early age. Mr.Garris has now taken his years of experience and knowledge of the criminal lifestyle to help change the lives of youths that are on the dead end path to gang and criminal lifestyle. He is a motivational speaker that uses his lifes experiences to unvail the truths about life in the streets. Currently, he is the Community Outreach Chairman of the Non-Profit organization, Taking Back The Streets Summit which acts in conjuction with other community organizations and law enforcement to curtail the effects of gang violence and criminal behavior.
