This book includes many of my best loved poems. As you’ll see, most pertain to my family, grandkids and the beauty of nature.

Poetry brings out ones most intimate feelings. Imagination is a main key. In this book I have brought out the beauty of nature and I have included love of my family and my background. Think of a small rural town girl spending her life in a sheltered small world. This book sums up my life written in poetry.

About the Author

I was born and reared on a farm on the outskirts of the small town of Bamberg, South Carolina. Being one of five siblings and the middle child, at that, I always felt, somehow, that I was “left out”, so to speak. Two brothers were older and two sisters were younger.

As I became a teenager, I had this sudden urge to write. In high school I was nominated as historian of my senior class. That involved writing the history of my class from ninth grade up. I guess that was the beginning.

Then, after my marriage in 1968, 1 signed up for a newspaper writing course. I wrote some short stories and newspaper articles, but as I began having children, my interest became poetry. I would sit at my dining room table, look out the window at the trees and lovely blue sky and start making words rhyme, so I decided I can be a poet if I try. So, I began writing poetry, with many of my poems relating to nature and family history and, of course now, my grandchildren. While I am not a well known poet, I decided to make my dream come true. Therefore, it is my desire that anyone who reads this book of poems can imagine and feel the impulse of my thoughts.

A dream is only a dream, if one never pursues it, so it is my hope that as a reader, you will enjoy reading these poems and if you have a dream, climb the ladder until you, too, can be as excited as I am in getting my book published.
