About the Book

Most youth coaches are former players and fans. There’s a huge difference, as you’re about to discover, between playing football, watching football, and coaching football. As a coach, there are things you need to know, and things you need to do, long before you ever step on the field.

By reading this book, you’ll learn…

… What the most important play in football is… and how you can get more out of it!

… How to coach punt fakes that work when you need them most!

… How to spring the punt return for big yardage!

… When, how, and why to block punts!

… How to get kickoff coverage you can trust!

… How to set up an onside kick that will be recovered 80% of the time!

… How to regain scoring momentum with kickoff returns that take advantage of coverage tendencies!

… How to teach an effective scheme for kicking field goals and extra points (and why you should!)

… How to block PATs and Field Goals—and what to do if your opponent does something unusual!

… How to put together a comprehensive scouting report solely for the special teams game—figure out what your opponents do and how you can gain advantages from it!

… The best drills for reinforcing those skills needed for the kicking game!

Also includes practice techniques for interfacing your special teams period with the rest of your program and a complete fourth down offensive system that you can use anywhere on the field to keep your opponents guessing!

Oh, and he has hair now.
