About the Book

Mandy Miller is an eight year old English girl struggling with her identity coming from a poor family whose father was killed in the second World War.  She wants to join the Brownies, but her mother cannot afford the uniform or the club dues.  Mandy is faced with many obstacles which she is determined will not stand in her way. She finally achieves her goal; knowing that if she wants to join the Brownies only she Mandy Miller can accomplish that goal  


About the Author

June Gatewood is a a World War two baby born in England to an English mother and a Mexican father.  June was a nurse in the Royal Air Force and met her American husband Bill in England and emigrated to the United States. She is a professional Health Care Administrator;  managing an Assistant Care Facility in Los Angeles. June has three children Suzy, Donna, and James.  She has been published in numerous anthologies, including the National Library of Poetry in 1994 and 1995.  June is a women of substance, and can often be found in her West Hollywood home with her two Shitzu dogs, China and Marmite writing her stories or knitting her dolls and creating different animals.
