Once in a while, a pinecone will fall off the tree and re-plant itself on the forest floor and a whole new tree will grow out of that seed. Maddie and Josh listened in awe to the story about how their family didn’t really fit on only one tree. Mom and Dad explained how divorces and new marriages helped their family tree grow and grow until it was the perfect size it is now. Mom and Dad also explained that the family tree doesn't stop where it is now. "Each new marriage, each new baby born will add to the family tree and that just like a real tree in the forest, a family tree never stops growing."

About the Author
Alison Voiles grew up in what was referred to in the 1970's and 1980's as a "Broken Family." She never felt her family was actually broken and didn't like her loving family being labeled that way. She felt her family was really just expanded and revived. With today's blended families, Alison feels now is the perfect time to revitalize the look of the traditional family tree as there are more and more families that don't fit into just one tree, but actually fit better into a family forest!
