About the Author

Farida Amin (born in Bangladesh, 22 March 1971) finished her First Degree (1988) in the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. In 1994 she completed her M. Litt; in 2004 ECDL and in 2006 PGDE in the University of Aberdeen. She has been teaching in ‘Al Noor’ School since 1992. She lives now as an aspiring poet with her four children whom are her most honest critics.

From an early age she had a passion for writing poetry in Bengali. After her marriage she was busy with family and study so she had no time to follow her ambition.

Now in the past year (2007-8) she has rediscovered her talents as a poet after stumbling across the acclaimed site Poetry.com. Her first poem to be submitted was ‘Excitement’ which was written on impulse. On December 2007 Poetry.com awarded her with the ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ from the Noble House and presented her gold medallion of her distinction as a ‘Poet Fellow’. She is now one of the best poet of 2007 and a Distinguished Member of the ISP [International Society of Poetry]. In July 2008 she attended ISP Convention in Nevada, Las Vegas in the famous Riviera hotel where over 1,000 poets attended for contest.

Her poems are categorized and are usually on impulse when inspiration strikes. Some poems are emotional most are based on romance, love, religion and true stories. Her poem ‘The Best Friend’ is now published in ‘The Best Poems & Poets of 2007’ and is the first in the book.
