About the Book

My Dad, David Fisher, was a great man who lived life to the full.  He loved his wife, his children, his family and his friends – and they all loved him equally in return.

He was diagnosed with an inoperable glioblastoma grade 4 brain tumour on 3rd October 2006 – one day before his 52nd birthday and given 12 months to live.

Once he found this out he immediately started recording his thoughts and noting the changes to his body, which continued over the course of his final year with us.

Dad was a senior lecturer in learning disabilities.  He wanted people to know what happened to him - so his students could learn from it and so his family and friends would have something special to remember him by.

As soon as we realised how important this book was to him we all supported the idea to the full and went about helping him achieve his goal – and this book is the final product.

The book has been an unbelievable journey for all involved and personally I have thoroughly enjoyed working on it for just over a year, with a massive amount of help from all my family.

We all hope you enjoy looking over Dad’s last 12 months on this earth and we thank everyone who made that journey so bearable and special.

About the Author

James Fisher, who works as a journalist, wrote this book in memory of his Dad and dedicated it to his family.

He says the book would never have been completed without the help and support of his family and friends.

James hopes everyone enjoys reading it and who knows . . . one day he might write another one.
