About the Book

Gators and other sports fans of all ages will chuckle over the transition of some of the best-known nursery rhymes to Gator themes.  Look for your favorite characters, coaches and players hiding within these verses. The concept and verses by Joyce LeBlanc, AKA Mother Gator, and illustrations by award-winning artist, Darlene Marr, provide color, humor and special impact to verses that are put with both the old version of the rhymes as well as the new versions which contain current themes and content.  The new verses are sometimes just for fun, but some speak also to the values inherent in both sports and academics.

About the Author

Mother Goose has become Mother Gator in the form of Joyce LeBlanc, Program Manager of the University of Florida's Healthy Families Program.  Promoting literacy for the past 15 years as Mother Goose as an enhancement to her "real job", Joyce laments that instead of recognizing her goose "Gilly" as a goose, most children now think he is that "darned, quacking duck" now featured so prominently on television commercials.  A long time writer of poetry, fables and children's stories for her family, Joyce wants to find ways to put some rhythm, rhyme and magic back into child and adult friendly reading materials and to get parents reading to their children once again.
