I thanked the man and hung up the phone. Then I started talking to myself again. “My little Joy? This has got to be wrong. Obstructing justice? Never in a million years.” I sat there, feeling the tears piling up under my eyelids and threatening to spill down my cheeks. I reached into the section of my desk where I kept my liquor and brought out a bottle of rum that I had hidden from Joker before she went to jail. I seldom drank, and when I did it was usually mixed drinks. I poured half the bottle down my throat before I even felt it start to burn. Then I wiped the tears off my cheeks and took a couple more swallows. I guess the bottle hadn't been full to start with because it went dry and I slammed it down on the desk and put my head in my hands and then the sobs came again. This time it was a flood of tears. All the while I was choking out the words “Oh my Joy, have I lost you? Please come back. Please, please....please.....Pleez Then blessed oblivion overcame me as I passed out and slept.

About the Book
When you begin reading "The Last Samaritan," you might think you've gotten stuck with another drippy romance novel, or some fool's sob story. Action! Nothing could be further from the truth, which is what this is all about. The events that happen in this autobiographical novel reads like a movie of the week. Suspense! It has everything you could want: Sex, drugs, fast cars, fast women, as well as violence and perversion. Drama! Plus, being overcome with a deep desire to find himself, the author goes through all kinds of torture in his quest for meaning. This is a story that I believe will skyrocket up the bestseller list once it becomes available, which I hope is soon.
About the Author
I grew up a late baby boomer and flower child of the sixties. I've seen a lot, done a lot, and I now have a lot to say. Won't you listen? I have many works already in existence, not published as yet, but hopefully soon. Two collections of poetry (that rhymes!) totalling over 200, plus a number of short stories, articles and even a novel which is undergoing the finishing touches, and which is about ME! I have a burning desire to help others to express in words those things many can't express for themselves, thereby improving their relationship(s) with whomever; wife, sweetheart, child, parent, etc. I have found that my best work is done when creating a special poem for someone with a desire to express the (for them), unexpressable, for whatever reason; be it love, sorrow, apology, grief, anything. I have the words, let me help. If it doesn't help, there's never a charge.
