The writing of this poetry book came to me one day as I was sitting on the front porch where I live, a historic landmark known as the the Castle Hotel, with the warmth of the sun upon my face and a burning in my soul that reflected the opposite from the other. Another beautiful day in paradise along the shores of Pass-a-grille Beach, and I wondered why my heart wasn’t enjoying the moment. My mind was elsewhere, troubled by the shadows of my past and tortured by the clan of the present. My hopes and dreams were tied down instead of being lifted free. I sat there with a tear running down my cheek. By the time I was in a full cry, I had in front of me a mission statement to my family on how I felt about their choices in life, both past and present. I was being brutally honest and laying it on the line. It was that day that my eyes were opened, not only to my family, but also to myself and to my dreams. The following is a year of my existence with these days in collision.

About the Author
John C. DeRosa is a native of Fairmont, West (by God) Virginia, born on May 27, 1967. He is the first child of three and the only son to Lisa DeRosa. With a childhood full of adventure, he graduated high school and attended West Virginia University. At the age of 20, he drove down to St. Petersburg Beach in Florida in a car given to him by his uncle Eric DeRosa to create a new life. He currently resides on the beautiful Gulf Coast of historic Pass-A-Grille, near St. Pete Beach. John is a fan of all sports and one who enjoys travel and nature. His hobbies include bartending, selling real estate and entertaining his friends and family, who are always welcome to come and soak up paradise.
