About the Book

The Orange Bowl Stadium. Put to rest and carted away in 2008. It was an example of a bygone era in sports stadium architecture, when simple design provided a basic function. A place just for football born in the late 1930's. The book is not about football so much, but a visual memory for the scores of fans who may not have realized the last game attended would be their final time in the stadium. The first chapter revisits my family's photos from the 1939 game to the 1970's. Chapter Two begins with the condition of the stadium in January, 2008, and leads to the demolition period. Finally, a chapter of aerial images compiled through the years completes the story. I attempted to capture many of the seat locations and views to the field. Individual fine art prints are available from any image in the book. The architectural survey was completed in January, 2008, and demolition finished in late spring.

About the Author

A native Miamian, I migrated north to Jupiter, Florida in 2005. The move enhanced my area of coverage to the entire state of Florida. I provide high quality digital photography to the world of architectural design and work together with architects to preserve and document their projects. Thirty years of world travel have afforded me many opportunities. In addition to providing project photography, I have available in my library a diverse selection of image content for many fine art applications. Please take a few moments and review my on-line gallery samples: www.scottbsmithphoto.com I love design. Could be new. Could be old (my favorite). When I discovered the old Orange Bowl stadium was to be demolished, I had to record the structure for history. When shooting, I push myself to see details, angles and aspects of any design a bit differently. About my aerial photography; I didn't plan on it, but I suppose my time in the Air Force indirectly prepared me to have an ability and expertise to hang sideways from helicopters to capture the beauty of what lies below when airborne. I've been shooting from somewhere up there since 1988. Check out Chapter Four in my new book. Professional Affiliations: American Society of Media Photographyers (A.S.M.P.)
