A Black Man In “The White House”
(For Barack)
In November 2008 they were as quiet as a Mouse
Because they never thought they would see a Black Man In “The White House”
But the plan began with Moses and the first forty Years
And then there was Medgar and Malcolm and they had no Fears
And then there was Martin and he cried many Tears
And he used non-violence to drive the agenda Forward
But he always knew that there were muddy, stagnant Waters
Stopping him from reaching and achieving all his Goals
Stopping him from preaching the peace that was in his Soul
And then the final bullet stopped him dead in his Tracks
And we suffered, bled and cried but there was no turning Back
And forty years later there came a brand new Vision
His name was different from the rest and he knew he had a Mission . . . . .
Cause we got felons, convicts, dope feigns and illiterate people Too
But it was not our vote that counted or got him in, it indeed was You!

About the Book
This book is written as my way of saying "Thank You" to so many people who have been instrumental in the forming of my life. I thank my mother, sisters, niece, my entire family and every human being that I have crossed paths with as I live. I am especially appreciative to have been under the Christian Leadership of my Pastor, The Reverend Dr. Morris L. Shearin, Sr., a man who daily demonstrates that "He walks with God"; and my pastor's wife, Mrs. Bertha Mae Shearin, who I have come to know and love in a very special way. I also say "Thank You" to my God for his unmerited favor and for allowing me to keep my humility throughout life. The challenges have been great but I have learned that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me", Philippians 4:13.
About the Author
The Author, Michelle Anntoinette Bundy is a Native Washingtonian. She is one of four girls raised by a single mother and resides in "Brentwood", a local neighborhood in Northeast, Washington, D.C.
