Looking For A Place To Take A Long Winter Nap

Cubbie paid attention to all his mother told him.  When summer came, Mother Bear said:   "Cubbie, you are ready to go live in the big woods all by yourself.  You know how to find food and take care of yourself.  Just remember you must get home before the first big snow because it is hard to find our bear den when snow is falling.  You will be getting sleepy and will need a place to take a long winter nap.  But if you get caught in a snow storm and lose your way, you must use your 5 senses to find your way home.  Look for a hollow log and crawl in to get out of the storm.  Be sure to feel if the log is empty.  Use your ears to hear sounds of the woods and your nose to smell the presence of other animals.  If you can't find a hollow log, feel for a scratchy haystack.  The big woods are near a large hay field filled with big haystacks.  Crawl under the haystack and you will stay warm.  A tree is another good place to take a short rest, but remember to hold on with the claws on your paws.  You may even find a cave.  Just  remember to look, listen, smell, taste, and feel."
