We picked up the stuff that Savannah had dropped and walked over to our parents. Savannah’s mom hugged me and told me how proud she was of me. Then Mom told them about my new nightly practices.
“You practice at night now?” Savannah asked, looking impressed, “Wow, you’re stepping up.”
We walked out of the airport and took a taxi back to the Palavela. When we got to the arena, we decided that Savannah’s mom and my mom would take all the stuff back to our room to unpack, and that Savannah would stay and watch me practice like she usually did.
“This is so cool,” She said as we walked into the arena, “But I should have probably dressed warmer.”
“Oh, well,” I said, as we started heading down to the left side of the rink. We spotted my coach, but not Michelle, so I figured that she must be sitting down.
“You’re late!” Coach called, “Where were you?”
“Sorry, coach,” I called back apologetically, “Savannah’s flight was held up, and Mom and I had fun talking to a photographer. Our parents are back at the hotel.”
“Okay, come on down and practice then!” Coach called.
As we headed down to where Coach was waiting, I thought privately how Savannah would react when she met Michelle Kwan, but Savannah was getting back to our last conversation.
“No, but seriously, this rink is so-”
She froze, which is a first because she never stops talking at mid-sentence. We’d just arrived where my coach was, and she’d spotted Michelle Kwan sitting there with my coach. She looked just as bewildered as I did when I’d first met her.

About the Book
Jennifer Martin seems like an average fifteen year old girl, dealing with family, school, relationships, and love.

In February 2006, after Michelle Kwan suffers a groin injury, that dream begins to surface. The United
States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) asks Jen to come to Torino, Italy to compete in Sasha
Cohen's place if she suffers an injury. While Jen is in Torino, surrounded by her family and friends, she
is given permission to compete in the Olympics in order to get an experience of what it's like to compete in the
Olympics, which could help prepare her for the 2010 Winter Olympics. But will she actually get the chance? And if she does, how good of a performance will she give? Throughout this entire story, Jen learns that anything is possible and that dreams really can come true.
About the Author
Stepahnie Ann Loverde was born on July 23, 1992. She has always had a talent for writing, and wrote several short stories when she was younger. The idea to write this book came to her when she was thirteen, watching the 2006 Winter Olympics after Michelle Kwan dropped out of the competition.
