About the Book
This Book is a collection of poems based on many contemporary themes, drawn from areas of the Author's life with which she is familiar; aviation, law, science, politics, her childhood and her married life. The current trends in philosophical ideas of interest to many people, are encapsulated in the core theme, of this book; the Odyssey, of a modern Odysseus or Homer; and is adapted from the Classic works of the "Iliad". The poems are written especially for those unknown Heroes, who have strived, struggled and triumphed in turbulent times. The defence of utilitarian ideas, in a world facing political crisis is highlighted. The poems also depict key highpoints in world politics, over the last decade, from the rise of terrorism, sparked by the the crash of the twin towers in New York to the commencement and end of the Iraq War.
About the Author
The Author's Father served as an Officer with the 8th Ghurkha Rifles and her paternal uncle was a great influence in her life and served as a Naval Attache under President Eisenhower in Russia. She married a Forces Officer with whom she travelled to many places in Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas. She primarily trained as a geneticist, conducting research in Cancer Genetics, collaborating with scientists at the NIH, Bethesda. After Obtaining her Doctorate, she taught and researched extensively in cancer and molecular sciences. She later completed her Masters in Intellectual Property Law and trained to become a Solicitor with a highly reputable British Firm. She was greatly inspired by her Law Lecturers who imparted Legal Education by the excellent Socratic Method. The Author has two sons, the first an officer and pilot like his father married to a commercial pilot and the second training to be a pilot but engages a passion for Formula One Racing, having obtained the prestigious ARDS licence from Silverstone.
