Why Gold?

When asked what type of government the Founding Fathers had created, Benjamin Franklin answered, “A republic, if you can keep it.” We are in the last throes of that republic. Democracy has been replacing the republic and is yielding to socialism. The main battle of the 19th century was a central bank because control of the money supply was the seat of power. Alexander Hamilton fought for a strong central government and a strong central bank, which existed on and off throughout the 1900s, finally gaining permanence in 1913 with the Federal Reserve Act.

 That shifted the power from the individual to government. The 20th century is known for its wars which were made possible by the Federal Reserve. The power was now in the hands of the few to enrich themselves at the expense of the many. When President Nixon closed the gold window in 1971, the world went on a fiat dollar standard. The fiat dollar removed any restraint on the central bank, the Fed. The bubble burst in 2007. Decades of inflation and credit expansion came to an end. The Fed came to the rescue of those caught in the meltdown. Loaning money and credit in prodigious amounts, it has spent over $2 trillion to cover the losses created by its own irresponsible management.

The Fed doesn’t have any money; it creates it out of thin air and charges the debt to us. The country is bankrupt—morally as well as economically.

 Every check on Congress and the Fed has been circumvented.  Only the gold standard can secure our money, property and freedom.

The foremost tool socialist governments use to gain control over an economy and the people is the banking system. The fifth plank of Karl Marx's Communist Mani­festo reads: "Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly." Lenin said the establishment of a central bank is ninety per cent of communizing a country. This is underscored by the observation of Reginald McKenna, President of the Mid­lands Bank of England: "Those that create and issue the money and credit direct the policies of government and hold in their hands the destiny of the people." Amachel Rothschild was quoted as saying: "Give me the power to issue a nation's money; then I do not care who makes the laws." The Founding Fathers were aware of the threat of a central bank. Thomas Jefferson wrote to John Adams: ". . . I sincerely believe, with you, that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies . . ."
