Among all the differences in our lives, we share at least two grand commonalities. First, we are Americans. Second, we share in the responsibility to keep One of the surest methods to “keep” our Republic, and thus retain our freedoms as outlined in the Constitution, is to instruct our children and grandchildren in the basics of our history, our founding documents, and the principles and sound philosophies that have made The answer to these questions is clear and resounding, “The Family!” The government cannot do it. State-run schools will not do it; at least they are not currently doing so. Perhaps someday in the future the schools will once again catch the vision, but we cannot wait and see; time is of the essence. Besides, for better or worse, we as parents are our children’s first and most effective teachers. What better place for a child to learn to love her country than on her daddy’s knee? Who has more impact in instilling within a young boy the virtues our nation was founded upon than his mother? What better place for the first discoveries that “We [do] hold these truths to be self-evident” or that “Men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights” than in the home? What follows are 52 simple discussions concerning our founding principles and the philosophies that are essential for each and every American to know, understand, and cherish. As much as possible, the words come from those who laid the framework for our nation because they were its architects, builders, and masons. Let us not lose our Republic. Instead, let us gather our children. Let us instill in them the knowledge, virtues, values, and love of country born of action that, hopefully, were instilled in us. Is short, let us save
