Cry my children, cry, for the world watched you while you die
They watch and said nothing as you are used and abused
As they did while Hitler was slaying the Jews
They say they will protect you from all hurt and harm
But in reality they pretend like they don't know what's going on
They listen to your cries at night as you are being beaten
They tell you that you will go to hell form all the lies and weeping
And as you run away from all the beatings you've had
They tell you, you ought to be glad for the little that you have
Cry my children, cry, for the world watched you while you die
You dream of parents who will love you no matter what
But you have the type of parents who are always committing a crime
They are never happy with you know no matter what you say and do
Sometimes you wonder why the hell God made you, for you are always feeling blue
They send you to school to get an education
But when you get home you can't get a decent conversation
God won't you hear this child who is crying in his sleep
Sometimes I feel a like little bahand Bo Peep, who lost all her sheep.
Cry my children; cry for the world watched you while you die
I have prayed and prayed again for God to hear the many cries
But the only results I see is that a lot more children have died
I'm afraid to go to sleep at night for fear I will be beat
And left to die in a pool of blood like a burned out field of wheat
I think that one day while they sleep that I will kill them all
For it really doesn't matter I've heard the Devil's call
So when you come home at night and see you children playing
Why don't you go somewhere and do you a little praying?

About the Book
This book is a collections of poems written from 1980-2009. A collection of poems that will have something for all types of folk in this life. It will also give you pause to think about your belief system and what it means to you.
These peoms look at life from a personal point of few from the author and will show how the author looks at life at certain points of his life while dealing with different types of folk and situations along his life's journey. It will show the angry, disappointment, happiness and love with life along the way. In the end peoms are about life and the roads you take untill your world has ended at a certain point.
About the Author
Melvin was born in St. Louis, MO. on October 5, 1948. He lived in different areas of the city, including the projects of Pruitt -Igoe in midtown St. Louis. Durng those years Melvin saw the good, the bad and the ugly in his home life and on the streets of St. Louis. Plus, he saw what a difference your life takes when you are born a black man in the United States of America on the streets of St. Louis, MO.
Melvin began smoking at the age of 14 years old and begin using drugs and alcohol at 15 years old. He drink and abuse drugs for the next 21 years of his life and acheived none of the goals he had dream about as a child. On November 20, 1984, he became a recovering Alcoholic and Drug Addict and has been sober for more than 24 years.
Melvin went back to school and received his GED. He went on to received his degree in English from Saint Louis University in 1994. Had Melvin not become a recovering Aloholic and Drug Addict this book would never had been witten.
