Drag Racing

The car accelerated again towards the hedge, which was banked up. I took off over the hedge, flew about 200yds in the air and landed nose first in a field of carrot seedlings. I couldn't actually see where I was, as my eyes and mouth had filled with dirt on impact. My first thought was of the car and what Ollie was going to say (well actually, my first thought, when I was flying through the air was to pray that I wouldn't end up in a wheelchair)! My next thought was to get out of there, as I didn't know if there might be a fire from oil spillage, so my priority was to get myself out of the car. I had a sharp pain in my chest which was making it difficult for me to breath properly, I thought I might have cracked some ribs. I could feel that my left leg was trapped, so I had to yank it hard to release it. I pulled my way out of the car, which I now realised was laying on it's side and lay beside it on the ground. There was an eerie silence for a short while then I could hear Ollie coming towards me. He was frantic by the time he reached me after running across the field. All he could see when he looked through the hole that I had made in the hedge, was me lying on the ground by the car. He thought I had been thrown from it on impact. Shortly after, he was followed by our crew and the ambulance team.
