4th. October, 2009. Three months since my hip replaced. Spending a few days camping at Wallingford. Am getting about, but still need crutches
"Charity begins at home," they say. So when do I get mine? For as your 'Annos Domini,' your health starts to decline. I've had to have both hips replaced, as well as my left knee, And every time I thought my wife would show some charity.
Recently, in Wallingford, we walked into the town, And, feeling rather out of breath, I said that we'd sit down. I fear my big mistake was let my sticks out of my clutches, For, as my wife got up to go, she walked off with my crutches! 'In Sickness and In Health,' I thought, that Solemn Marriage Vow She already has forgotten, a big surprise, you know, I mean to say, she only made it forty years ago!
"That's great!" I said, as I sat there, "so what do I do now?"

About the Book
A Policeman on a bicycle rounding up straying horses; the imagined outcome of a match between a Celestial cricket team and one from the 'other side': treatment at the hands of 'Miss Whiplash', a firm and efficient Physiotherapist; the plight of all hen-pecked husbands on Judgement Day; marriage and mothers-in-law; and the love of a father for a "drop dead gorgeous" 2 year old daughter. About the Author
During the 1950s, at Her Majesty's request, the Author briefly spent time in the Royal Air Force, but finding himself unable to settle back down in 'Civvy Street,' joined the Metropolitan Police, serving at such far flung,exotic outposts of the Metropolitan Police District as Holloway, Highbury Vale, Willesden Green and Wembley. His experiences during 32 years service have given him an insight into all aspects of life - pleasant, gruesome, 'gut-wrenching,' heart-warming, hilarious - some of which are reflected in the pages of this book. He now lives in Wembley with Janet, his wife of over 40 years, and reckons he's long overdue for Parole! He has three daughters, six grandchildren, two 'tin hips' and one 'tin knee.' Sadly, their son passed away eleven years ago.
