According to the *National Center for Health Statistics, between 75 and 80 million people in the United Stated alone suffer from Chronic Pain Syndrome. I am not talking about the occasional headache, or upset stomach; I’m talking about severe pain. Pain that is so unbearable it is enough to interfere with everyday life activities. Activities such as, holding down a full-time job, taking care of your kids, and enjoying a warm sea-side breeze, on a beautiful spring time day. The sad part of all of this is that the Medical Community knows all about this, but Physicians are still hesitant to prescribe much needed pain medication or not enough pain medication, because of their fear of widespread addiction among the population. Even though the latest statistics, from the National Institute of Drug Abuse states in their Research Report, Prescription Drug Abuse and Addiction, pain and opioid-phobia, that less than 1 % of people who are taking opioids for chronic pain syndrome become addicted to them.

About the Author
Mark A. Gregory is an artist and a chocolatier, who happens to have chronic pain syndrome. He has a B.S. in biology, with an english minor from Boston University.
Mr, Gregory has had an intresting, sometimes sad battle with an unkown connective tissue disorder, causing him to have thirty knee surgeries, back fusions, an aoric anuyerism repair, and bi-lateral hip replacements.
