About the Book

My publisher has asked me to make suggestions why people should buy my book.  Well! Besides making a good doorstop, You can use it to throw at Your neighbors cat, that keeps bringing dead mice and lizards to Your front door.  It can make a good start for Your next paper drive, that will make You a very responsible Green Citizen. Huh?  He wants content?  Oh!  Well that’s different.   I have never climbed Mount Everest, or swam across the Pacific Ocean, but I have still led a very interesting life,  and I will tell You all about it.  And at no additional charge, You get “Cliff’s Quips,” my own brand of warped humor.   You get “Advice.”  Some is so brilliant that even Solomon would be impressed.  You get haps and mishaps.  You get Adventure and near sexual encounters. As a retired Geologist, I will throw in a little Geology, but only that which a person of  Your great intelligence would enjoy.  You will get more variety than You would get in a 10 cent store, but what You won’t get is “Continuity.”   You will have to be on Your toes at all times, or You will have a hard time keeping up.  I switch from one subject to another, or from past to present in the blink of an eye.  All with the same thought. “To either be entertaining, or hopefully humorous.”

About the Author

Clifford H. Hodges was born on 2/28/1924, in Palestine Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M, class of 1950, with a BS in Geology and  minor in Chemistry.  His Mom, Josephine Marie Wheeler Hodges was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and his Dad, Clifford Senior was also born in Palestine, Texas, on New Years Day of 1900.

On July 17, 1964, when he was forty years old, he married Delma Bennett Lewis, (Dee).  He and his daughter Andrea Cheryl, joined Dee and Her three sons, Ray, Mark, and Larry to form a close knit and loving family.  He did not take up writing until his beloved wife, Dee, passed away. She was the love of his life, for forty years, and her passing left him devastated.  So, he put together an album, with many pictures of them, and the things they did together.  When he was able, he began to write about funny things that happened to him, and always included one or more of them with a bottle of wine, when invited to parties.  Cliff finds humor in almost every part of everyday living, and eventually was churning out humorous stuff quite frequently.  This finally lead to his first book, which is about the first half of his life. Now he is working on his second book, which is supposed to be about the second half of his life.  He claims it is difficult to finish, because so much good material keeps happening.
