Extract from "It's been Bertalised"
Things seemed to be going moderately well for a while and knowing Bertie didn't like the car we went off to do the weekly shop, leaving the dog the run of the house. I suppose we were away for around 2 hours and upon our return, as we approached the house it became apparent all was not well. "Have you taken the Dining room curtains down for washing" I said "Not likely" was the reply. Well on entering we were surrounded by total chaos! The passageway pot board had a nicely modified leg, the wood chippings from this were neatly mixed up with quantities of what looked like confetti but had been the days mail, of which none could be identified. Subsequently we had to be present whenever the post arrived or Bertie demolished it before we got there. As a result of this I kept getting threatening red letters for the following year or so, as I didn't always pay my bills on time, due to the mobile shredder having got there first. Now into the Dining room. What fun had been had. Not only were the curtains and rod down but these had been improved by the odd chew. The dining chairs were all upended but basically still usable along with several pot plants now spread neatly over the floor. However Bertie was pleased to see us, so what can you do.

About the Book
The book is a collection of true, and amusing, short stories from the authors life. The collection encompasses a number of tales relating both to several animals we have owned, and to various amusing incidents, involving people who's company I have enjoyed, over a 40 year period.
About the Author
David Harkness was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, in 1943. He was brought up in Leeds and mainly York and was educated very badly, in the early postwar, secondary school system. As a schoolboy, he was interested in Amateur radio and anything else electrical, often going to auction sales and buying up old televisions and radios, to experiment with. After attending Technical college in Bishop Auckland, his first job was as an apprentice plater, until he joined the RAF at age 17, where his first involvement with 'Radar' occurred. In 1973 he joined the 'Marconi' company, and spent the next 36 years in Radar development and trials. He has finally retired to south west Scotland, where he lives with his wife 'Dottie', two dogs, a cat, an old stationary, steam, mill engine and a 1979 Rolls Royce car, that costs far more to keep on the road than it is ever worth.
