About the Author

Marina was born and raised in Malaysia, a beautiful tropical country in Southeast Asia. A graduate of University of Missouri in Kansas City, Marina lives in Boone, North Carolina with her daughter and her husband, Dr. Brad Batchelor.Upon returning from a vacation in Malaysia with her family, Marina was inspired to write a children's book about her little girl's experiences there. Realizing that children learn other cultures and groups different from them through the internet, media sources, the school and even from their own neighborhoods, this book was written by her to educate young readers about the rich culture of an Asian country like Malaysia. She believes that by exposing children to people of different cultures, they will be better prepared to function in the diverse global society that they live in.

A breast cancer survivor, she is also active in breast cancer awareness activities and writes for magazines and blogs on health issues.
