Ponders II

            Dreams do fade. They get set aside like books worth saving, on a shelf, out of view. They gather dust as years go by, as we deal with the demands of our changing, or changeless priorities. We forget them. Or, perhaps, we simply ignore them, for they’ve been trivialized or ridiculed by others, to whom we’ve given the power to judge what we believe to be significant.

            Obstacles, antagonism, lack of confidence, the inability to re-define ourselves when the familiar crashes down around us; for so many reasons, our dreams do fade. Like those visions during sleep, we later try to recall, because we know there was something within them worthy of contemplation. Yet, we found no time to reflect when the images were fresh and clear. We make no time to even stretch, to breathe, to refresh ourselves, to gather up our energies to greet a new day with a different perspective.

            Dreams do fade. Dormant they lie within us, left to dwell among suppressed child-like wonders, curiosities, the sense of adventure, of risk. We waver when faced with life’s vast unknowns. Yet, they may be brought back into focus, as surely as a dwindling fire responds to kindling, and effort. Embers remain. Always. They need but be remembered, tended, believed in, realized.
