What you do need are pencil and paper. This is a book in which you have to be actively involved. If you are not a beginner, but have already tried to solve Sudoku puzzles, then this little book will help you improve. You’ll solve more puzzles. You’ll have more fun. You’ll solve puzzles your friends cannot solve. However, you will have to work very hard to put aside your old system long enough to become thoroughly immersed in this one. Then you can keep the best of both systems! You’re going to love solving a puzzle rated by someone else as super-hard by just using this three-step system! Not only that---you’ll know whether or not your solution is correct without looking at the answers! Also, by the end of the book you will have a new system for rating all Sudoku puzzles according to how easy or hard they are, and that system will work for all puzzles out there! Many of the techniques in this book are well-known. I have put them in a unique order and greatly simplified them to help you. Another good reason is that she also knows how to teach. In this book she discloses her three-step Sudoku solving system in an easy-to-read-and-learn-from manner. In her three steps there are none of the strange-named techniques that are commonly used in solving Sudoku puzzles. Instead she leads you slowly and carefully through seven easily understood techniques. She believes that, like a good crossword puzzle, most Sudoku puzzles are meant for the average person to solve and not for mathematicians, analysts, computer experts, or geniuses. At the same time, she does require you to work at learning to solve them. “You do have to THINK, darlin’.” She expects you to practice the techniques as you go through the steps. Her three-step system does give you a good mental workout. She says that the result of this effort should be an ability to solve almost all the puzzles you find in newspapers, magazines, and Sudoku puzzle books. For those who want to learn a little more she includes a chapter giving hints about three directions they might take. Granny wrote this book for adults like herself who want to stretch their brains, solve more puzzles, and have more fun. However, if you’re willing to help them, she says that most 5-6 year-olds should be able to learn Step One, most 9-10 year-olds should be able to learn Steps One and Two, and children over 12 years should be able to learn all three steps. About the Author
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Granny and her husband took up Sudoku-solving to keep their brains functioning. After solving the local newspaper’s puzzles for a while, Granny quickly discovered that she could solve all of them by using the same simple techniques. It didn’t matter if the puzzles were rated easy or hard. When she went online to find even more difficult puzzles, she discovered she could solve most of them, too, using the same simple techniques. So she decided to share that knowledge with others by writing this book. Her husband has been her greatest help and critic in this endeavor. Granny Smith loves puzzles of all kinds. Besides solving Sudoku puzzles, she loves to work jigsaw puzzles. She collects “The World’s Most Difficult Jigsaw Puzzles,” the ones that have the same picture on the front and back, but the back view has been rotated 45 degrees. There’s a special technique for working these, she says, which makes them pretty easy to solve. Now retired, Granny was a teacher for many years. She lives with her husband in Arizona and treasures her four grandchildren.
