The time it took for Allen to arrive back at his house seemed like an eternity. Feeling like he was about ready to pass out from exhaustion; he climbed out of his truck and quickly made his way to the front door. Once inside; he threw off his jacket and gloves and quickly made his way towards the bedroom. As he stepped in; he took off his cold boots and pants in an attempt to get comfortable. He then stood over the big, soft looking bed staring at it as if he had been walking through the boiling hot desert and it was the cool, crisp water that would finally quench his undying thirst. With no more energy to spare; he took in the last bit of consciousness he had before collapsing onto the bed and drifted swiftly into an uncontrollable deep sleep. Not long after; he opened his eyes to find himself in another strange place. It was an immense room that was totally bare of any furniture or pictures. The walls and floor were bright white like the inside of an eggshell. The light coming in from the windows illuminated the colorless room like a cloudy day. He listened as each step he took echoed around him as if he was in the great hall of a theatre; His heartbeat following slowly behind. He walked around curiously trying to look for a way out when he noticed a trail of wooden blocks leading around the corner of the wall as if a child had left them. The letters on the blocks spelled out the words, “This way" leading in an upwards direction. Allen followed the blocks to another wide open room. To his surprise he noticed a little girl standing facing towards the middle of the giant white wall. The torn and dirty white dress she was wearing swayed as she teetered back and forth like a mental patient doped up on meds. Her stringy brown hair concealed a tiny white bow that barely poked out beneath her dingy locks. "Hello,” Allen called out to her “hello there.”
His voice echoed around the room; breaking the ominous silence. He remained motionless waiting for her to respond… but she never did. As she continued to teeter back and forth ignoring him; she started to hum a peculiar little tune… “Huuummm, hhmmm, huuummm… huum… huuummmmm, huuum.”
Allen didn't know what to do. He remained standing there; listening to the noise carry around the immense room. Just then; she quickly reached into her pocket and pulled out what appeared to be a small red crayon. She then began to write on the huge white wall in front of her. He watched as her right hand moved furiously across it; she wrote so fast that in under a few seconds she had an entire paragraph crudely written against the white paint. When she had finished; she dropped the crayon at her feet and remained motionless for a moment… then she vanished. Allen looked up at the bizarre writings on the wall, but it was out of focus from where he was standing. Slowly he advanced over towards it while trying to make it out. His footsteps once again echoed across the giant room. As soon as it was visible to him; he began to read the strange message, “It's time to sleep now…
The protection of the gods has not shined upon us… Eternity's wait in life and death… The sorrows of many cannot rest… Lives that are laid to ruin in his wake… Will soon seal his everlasting fate… Sleep... and die… At that moment; he heard the sound of little footsteps behind him. As he slowly turned around; his eyes caught a glimpse of something lying In the middle of the room. He walked over and bent down to pick it up. It was a doll of some sort… The hands were removed and two big rusty nails were driven in to where the eyes used to be. As he stood back up; he saw the little girl standing in front of him. Her face was decayed and her eyes were missing out of the sockets. She opened her mouth wide letting out a loud blood curdling scream… Then Allen woke up to the sound of the phone ringing. Startled; he scrambled over to the night stand and picked up the receiver, “Uhhh… hello.”

About the Author
E.J Edwards was born on July 29 1984 in Columbus Ohio but was raised in the small rural town of Gallipolis. As the eldest of three kids, he has tried most of his life to find his way and always remained optimistic whenever times got tough. Inspired by his mother as well as his friends and family to write, he began with small short stories at the age of 14 and continued on until he completed his first book. He has always had a passion for writing but found it difficult at times to put his full attention into it while working towards his associate's degree in Criminal Justice. With the dream and motivation to one day become a bestselling author; he began writing "From Nightmares to Reality" at the age of 24. 14 months later at the age of 25, he finally completed this long awaited accomplishment. in his book, Edwards wanted to describe a vision as to how powerful true love really is and what some people are willing to suffer through in order to be with that special someone... even in death.
