The squealing of breaks, a slamming car door brought Courtney to attention, her fingers clenching the arms of the white wrought iron settee. Moments later, his voice shouted her name. “Out here, Shan.” His suit was rumpled, his tie pulled loose. There were shadows under his eyes, but his mouth broke into that same endearing lopsided grin of Kelly’s as he walked toward her and her heart melted, her arms reaching out to embrace him as he sank down beside her on the chaise. “Umm, you smell good,” he sighed, clasping her to him and kissing her deeply. She should have pushed him away, punishing him for his cavalier behavior, which had caused their most recent estrangement. But, as always, their chemistry, their bond, became, as now, a match touched to tinder. Her lips moved over his, her arms tightening their embrace, her senses reeling. A sudden breeze riffled through the trees above them, sending the wind chimes in the leafy boughs above their heads into a mesmerizing splendor of angel song. “What am I to do with you, kiddo?” she breathed. “Your worst,” he challenged, with a grin. “You look as though you could do with some coffee,” she smiled ruefully, noting his reddened eyes and reaching to brush his ever-errant thatch of reddish gold off his brow. “Would be great,” he agreed with a final kiss on her upturned nose, before she turned to go into the house. He removed his tie and unbuttoned his shirt then stretched out on the chaise, his eyes taking in the sunlight filtering down through the overhead branches, his nose inhaling the spicy sweetness of the rose beds. And then in a twinkling she was coming towards him, balancing a tray, her lacy cotton robe swirling beguilingly around her slim tanned legs. “Yes,” he thought, feeling tears of joy starting to gather in his eyes, “It is good to be home, very good.”

About the Book
REDEMPTION is the story of a moderately successful writer and film producer, Shannon Lawrence, who makes a careless promise to an evil stranger on Holy Thursday in Jerusalem and becomes a Hollywood sensation overnight. Set in Old Towne Alexandria, Virginia, and Los Angeles, California, the tale features angels, Satan, and a ghost that visit Shannon’s young daughter, himself and his wife Courtney from time to time until a secret is revealed to them in the timeless way of love eternal.
About the Author
Having earned a degree from George Mason University that encompassed challenging sudies in writing - both nonfiction and fiction, and being responsible for producing assigned essays during an honors term at Oxford, I feel confident that I have earned the tools necessary to be an author. My first novel, SEASON of the FLAME, has garnered positive reviews and has produced interest in my writing a sequel. Not a few of my readers suggested that the novel be made into a movie. My second novel, ARTHUR, published December 2010, was a true labor of love for me. Always intriguied by the stories about King Arthur throughout my growing up years, I was delighted to go in search of the "real" Arthur when I chose Arthuriian History as one of my required two subjects of study at Oxford. For my other subject, I chose 19th Century British Historical Novelists. Subsequent studies at my home university included an Arthurian research project and the presentation of a book proposal for a novel based on historical research. I am currently engaged in writing my third and fourth novels; one is a sequel to my first novel and the other is a ghost story, I am in the process of deciding which to submit to complete my current contract with AuthorHouse. Prior to my moving to Georgia, I and my family lived for 30 years in Virginia, where I enjoyed several experiences participating in political events, meeting many notables, and got to observe the ever changing but always fascinating DC scene.
